Intensive Spanish Program
The Intensive Spanish Program at Universidad de San Andrés is a 4-week course oriented to students who want to significantly improve their Spanish and be immersed in Argentine culture.
Courses are carefully tailored by a team of native instructors and professionals with vast experience in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. The program curriculum is complemented with frequent cultural excursions and activities aimed at experiencing the living language of Porteños (residents of Buenos Aires).
The program is designed for students who have had at least three semesters of college level Spanish or the equivalent.
Classes are taught at our San Andrés downtown facility in Buenos Aires, conveniently located just blocks away from the historic Plaza de Mayo.
Buenos Aires: A World Class City
Buenos Aires is one of the safest and most cosmopolitan capitals in Latin America. The diverse population creates a dynamic mixture of Latin American and European cultures which is reflected in the city’s eclectic architecture, distinct cuisine and rich cultural life. The city is home to an incomparable array of theaters, bookstores, cafes, museums, Milongas (tango salons), and it has a vibrant and diverse nightlife.
The Intensive Spanish Program at UdeSA provides students the opportunity to earn academic credit while improving their Spanish. A university transcript will be mailed directly to the students’ home university upon successful completion of the program. Given the intensive nature of the one-month program, generally students earn credits for two semester long classes.
Classes are held Monday-Friday from 10am to 2:30pm with a break for lunch.
Spanish Language Course at Intermediate Level (40 hrs)
The course takes advantage of the immersion experience to quickly grow and deepen students' Spanish language level. It provides a systematic review and expansion of grammar and vocabulary, as well as strategies for listening, speaking, reading, and writing in increasingly complex situations. It enables participants to achieve a more natural use of the language in a native context, while also preparing them to take academic courses taught in Spanish with local students.
Spanish through Popular Culture, Literature and Film (40 hrs)
This is a dynamic, experientially based course which allows students to exercise and improve their Spanish through the study of a wide array of Argentine cultural artefacts, from literary texts and films to popular music and visual arts. The professor will also delve into the living cultural landscape of Buenos Aires, guiding the group to relevant and interesting Buenos Aires happenings, including concerts, art galleries, museums, historical sites and alternative theater productions.
